Pool iron stain removal

This photo shows how the EFC Pool Iron Stain Remover has taken off the iron stains.  In doing this, we were able to tell that this pool had iron stains.  To determine if you have iron stains, turn your pool pump off, then sprinkle some EFC over a small area.  If you have iron stains, you should see results in a minute or two.  If after a couple minutes you still have stains, then you most likely don't have iron stains.  You would then use a different product to remover the stains such as an enzyme.  If you determine you have pool iron stains, then add the proper dose and let the pool or spa sit for 1 to 4 hours or so to completely remover the stains.

Slowly pour small amounts of Pool Iron Stain Remover
around the edge of the pool.

POOL IRON STAIN REMOVER

Use this chemical to remove pool iron stains.  If this chemical doesn't remove the stains, then you probably don't have iron stains.  You can also use this product to remove iron from your pool filter.  Call our office if you have any questions about the use of this product.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND TESTING TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POOL IRON STAINS:

Test a small area before treating the whole pool or spa.  Turn your pump off, sprinkle a small amount (very small amount) like 1-2 ounces over the stained area.  Watch what happens.  You should see clear results within minutes if this product is going to remove the iron stains.  If it does remove the stains, slowly add the balance of this product per the dosage information below.  This product will lower your chlorine level after use.  For best results, follow the dosage information and steps below.

Recommendations for Stain/Iron Removal Using Pool Iron Stain Remover.

Continuous treatment process to keep the stains from reoccurring

The following process is the easy way to remove iron stains from your pool and to prevent iron stains from re-staining your pool.  It should also prevent brown cloudy pool water.  This process should eliminate the need for sequestering chemicals commonly called iron out, metal..., stain..., etc.

Slowly sprinkle one pound of Pool Iron Stain Remover along the edge of the pool, along a 4' section.  Do this once a day, working your way around the pool.  Do not add over one pound and do not add this quickly.  The pound should take about 60 seconds to add.

Once the pool is cleaned up with the above process, once a week broadcast one pound over the deep end of the pool.  This dose works on pools from 10,000 gallons up to 50,000 gallons.

Recommendations for Stain/Iron Removal Using Pool Iron Stain Remover.

Fast, one time treatment process

  1. DOSE: Use 15 pounds per 20-80 linear feet of wall depending on the severity of the stain.
  2. Try to lower chlorine the chlorine level to about 0.0 ppm.
  3. Turn off circulating pump(s) and chemical feeder pumps.
  4. Add 1-2 ounces of Problem Pools per 1,000 gallons of water to keep the pool from turning cloudy.
  5. Carefully (very slowly), pour (sprinkle) the Pool Iron Stain Remover along the walls of the pool all the way around and as close to the edge as possible. Use wall brush to break up any lumps that fall to the bottom of pool. Lumps of Pool Iron Stain Remover could temporarily stain the pool purple.
  6. Save a couple of cups of Pool Iron Stain Remover for cleaning the filter after using Pool Iron Stain Remover on pool.
  7. Wait ½ hour to several hours for the Pool Iron Stain Remover to clean surface. Then proceed with the filter cleaning: While backwashing; add the 2 cups of Pool Iron Stain Remover to a skimmer, backwash for at least 3 minutes, rinse the filter and restart the circulating pump.
  8. Add 1 pound of soda ash (pH-Up) for every pound of Pool Iron Stain Remover. Wait 15 minutes then test the pH; if under 7.5 add more soda ash. Try to keep a pH of 7.5 to 7.8 for several days.
  9. Add 1 pound of Non Chlorine Shock for every pound used of Pool Iron Stain Remover. Note; if a purple cloud appears after adding the Pool Iron Stain Remover you may need to add more Non Chlorine Shock to help clear the pool. It may take several hours for the purple color to disappear.
  10. Start adding chlorine slowly until reaching a level of 1.0 ppm. If you raise the chlorine too high, or too quickly, you risk restaining the pool. The pool is now ready to reopen. Maintain a low chlorine for a couple days to prevent re-staining.
  11. For the first week after treatment, add a sequestering agent such as Sequa Sol. Once a week add 16 ounces of Pool Iron Stain Remover to the deep end of the pool to prevent future iron stains in your pool.
