Heavy Duty Pool Filter Cleaner, 1 pound

Keep your pool filter clean with this excellent pool filter cleaner. This product will optimize your filtration, help prevent a cloudy pool, reduce the chance of recreational water illness, prolonged filter life.
This product will work on sand filters, diatomaceous earth (DE) filters and cartridge filters.
BENEFITS of this product: better filtration, sand needs to be changed less often, helps to clean D.E. filter grids, less likely to develop a cloudy pool, also helps eliminate biofilm in your filter for a safer pool. A dirty filter will have a hard time keeping your pool clear, and will also increase the likelihood of a biofilm developing in your filter. The biofilm is one of the leading causes of recreational water illness in swimming pools. This filter cleaner also increases the life of your pool sand filter, and you will have a less chance of developing channeling in the filter. If you shock a cloudy pool by raising the chlorine level up to at least 10 PPM, the pool should clear up in less than a day. If shocking the pool doesn’t work, your filter is likely the culprit. This product will keep your pool filter operating at peak performance. Another indication that the pool filter is having problems is an increase in filter pressure over time. If your filter started out 15 PSI after backwashing with new sand, and now the best you can do is 17 PSI, this is a good indication that your filter media is dirty. This product should help keep your filter operating at peak performance.
Winterizing a pool:
Pool winterizing is a very important step in the fall before you close the pool. Run this product through your filter prior to shutting the pool down for the winter. This will insure you start out with clean sand. If you leave the dirt, debris, oils, etc., in your filter over the winter, you will greatly reduce the life and effectiveness of your sand. This will lead to cloudy pool problems.

CLEANING SAND FILTERS:
This product can be added to the skimmer while backwashing, or for best results, dilute this product in a pail, then dump the solution into the sand filter and let soak for at least 30 minutes, or all night for best results. Backwash for 3 to 5 minutes after adding this product. In a hurry and don't have time to soak the filter? Then slowly pour this product into your skimmer while you are backwashing the filter. Try to add 1 pound over a 60 second period, then backwash for another 3 to 5 minutes to thoroughly clean the filter.
CLEANING DIATOMACEOUS EARTH (D. E.) FILTERS
This product can be added to the skimmer while backwashing your DE filter. This will do an excellent job cleaning the diatomaceous earth off your filter grids, cleaning the oil, grime, and hardness off the grids. If the D. E. filter grid has oil and grime, it is very difficult to backwash the DE grids clean. This product will help your diatomaceous earth filter have longer filter runs and perform better, thus helping prevent a cloudy pool. For best results, slowly add 1 pound of Heavy Duty Filter Cleaner into your skimmer while backwashing. Then backwash for another 3 to 5 minutes to thoroughly clean the filter. Recoat the DE filter when finished.
CLEANING CARTRIDE FILTERS
Remove the cartridge from the filter Add one pound of the Heavy Duty Filter Cleaner to the solution tank you will be soaking the filter in. Soak the cartridge for 1 or more hours, then rinse thoroughly before replacing it back into the filter. You can only clean a cartridge filter so many times before the filter has a hard time preventing a cloudy pool. If you shocked your pool to at least 10 PPM and the pool didn't clear up, you should replace the cartridge element.
