Non-chlorine shocking agents should be used to eliminate chlorine odors and to lower the combined chlorine level. NOTE: You usually get a false high total chlorine reading for 1-2 days after using the non-chlorine shocking compounds. These compounds are not good for clearing cloudy pools.
