Things You Need to Know About Winter Covers
Commercial Pool only sells the highest quality winter pool covers and pool safety covers on the market.
There are basically two types of winter covers are available for pools:
- Solid winter covers
- Safety covers (also called mesh covers)
Solid winter covers do an excellent job protecting the pool from algae, debris and wear and tear on the pool. The cover rests on top of the pool water and uses water tubes to hold it in place. Most inground pools will fill the pool a couple inches over the return jets prior to installing the winter cover. The cover fills up with debris, water, snow, etc., over the winter months keeping your pool clean and much easier to open in the spring.
Safety covers, or mesh covers, are the best covers to use when there is a chance a person could get into, or close to the pool. These covers help prevent serious injuries or drowning from a person, or animal, getting trapped under the cover. They are very strong and stretch across the pool. There are many advantages in that they look good, function well (they do let rain, dust, etc., into the pool), but most importantly they are very safe. This is why they are commonly referred to as safety covers. They are easily put on and removed. They are held in place with anchors set into the concrete around the pool and connecting straps to the anchors. Most people, who are handy, and willing, can install a pool safety cover.
